Great Wolf Lodge

Jason planned a surprise weekend for all of us at Great Wolf Lodge this past weekend. yay!Peyton even made up a song: 'goin' on a trip now, uh huh, not later. we're gonna swim, uh huh and slide. we're gonna have fun, uh huh'.the song is cuter when you actually hear Peyton sing it, and tell you when your singing it wrong. we were all excited to get to the hotel. the plan was for all of us to leave around 3:00pm (after naptime. we love our naps. can't function without 'em). get to the hotel, check in, see our room, then POOL TIME! Peyton was SOOO excited! i love seeing him like this. it's the best high a mom could ever have. our original plan was for all of us to stay the night, then the more we thought about it, (or i thought about it) i thought it would work best for Jayden and i to go home to sleep rather than getting him a pack & play and hoping sleeps well at the hotel. that way Jason and Peyton could swim, slide, do the lazy river and wave pool until the pool closed (they keep the pool open until 9:00pm). then do fun things in the hotel as late as they wanted. (i am telling you, this hotel has HUNDREDS of things for kids to do). we took the boys to the craft area. they played and colored. it was fun. soo much to see!one weird thing about the hotel, they don't babyproof the rooms very well. the tv was low. i mean low enough for even Jayden to change the channel, turn it off, and do whatever he wanted. (we just let him do it). we were surprised to see they didn't think about little things like that when decorating the rooms. although the boys had fun playing with the tv, hair dryer, and kleenex dispenser.but.... in the kids area of the room the tv was attached to the wall really high. (huh?) they really should have had some moms come up with the placement of everything. the fridge was low as well. it's like they expect to have a lot of little people staying at their hotel. why in the WORLD is everything placed so low? that is my ONLY complaint about the place. other than that, it is AWESOME! the first evening was SOOO much fun, and went by fast!we swam the whole time. Jayden and i mostly stayed in the kiddie pool. it has a beach front entry and tons of water things to stand on, and play with.Jayden also loved climbing all of the steps. he went up and down for awhile. he had such a great time!he looked so cute in his life vest. (i srsly want to eat this child). Jason and Peyton did the slides, over and over and over again. we all did the lazy river together. the boys LOVED it! when the waves in the wave pool came on the lazy river got wavy too. it was sooo much fun! around 6:00pm we went up to our room, ordered pizza, then walked around the hotel for a little while. Jayden and i left around 7:00. Jayden was so tired when we got home. we hung out a little, read books, then i put him to bed. he passed out. this morning (Monday) Jayden and i slept in a little. we ate breakfast, did our usual morning thing, then got ready to go back to the hotel. i called Jason after we had our breakfast. he said Peyton had slept well and was ready to go again. the pool didn't open until 9:00 so they hung out in the room and called G-pa to invite him up to visit and swim. (we had an extra arm band, so it worked out great). by the time Jayden and i got there G-pa was already there and Jason & Peyton were already going down the slides and having fun. Jayden and i got his life vest on again (cuteness!) and went straight into the pool. he LOVED walking around the kiddie pool. it is the perfect depth for him. he can walk around anywhere he wants. of course i was right next to him the whole time. we checked out of the hotel around 11:30am. as of right now the boys are dry, full from lunch, and sleeping soundly in their beds here at home. we plan on taking them back up to the hotel this afternoon. our armbands are good until the pool closes tonight.

the rest of our trip was great! we took the boys back to GWL this evening. it was SOO MUCH FUN (again).G-pa came over and we all drove together. it was fun. Jason and G-pa even rode one of the raft rides together. it cracks me up to hear Grandpa talking about it. he had fun, but i am pretty sure he won't be riding the raft ride again. we will definitely take the boys again. maybe this summer so we can enjoy the outside pool as well. it was a fun trip for all of us. btw: i didn't take my good camera in the pool area. we bought a disposable camera for the water shots. i didn't want to take any chances. they keep the pool area around 85 degrees, plus it is WAY HUMID in there too. i saw lots of moms with their Nikons and Cannons IN the pool taking pictures. they had them covered up with towels and such. (crazy and totally not worth ruining your camera over in my opinion). so basically what i am saying is excuse the bad shots. blame the $4 disposable camera, pls & thks! my Nikon was safe and sound & DRY up in our room the whole time. it loves me.

I AM SO JEALOUS YOU WENT TO GREATWOLF. you guys looked like you had soooo much fun. btw. some of those expensive DSLR cameras.. like i know the Mark II from canon is water sealed. no water can get into it (unless you dunked it in water) but maybe some of them had that. you can get a water cover for it too. like to take pictures underwater but they are pretty expensive lmao.
