spring? is that you?

the weather FINALLY changed.... this weekend it was sunny and warm! we were so excited to not only have great weather, but Aunt Tracy, (Jason's sister) flew in town from Illinois for the weekend. Peyton really wanted to show Aunt Tracy the park so the boys climbed into the wagon and off we went.Jayden climbed out of the wagon when he saw the playground....then Peyton took off after him. they couldnt wait to play!Jayden was SO EXCITED to play on everything! he tried to do everything Peyton did.
he's big enough to slide all by himself now....with the help of his tongue of course!Peyton had a great time on the swings, especially when daddy pushed him 'higher please!'Peyton also did a great job of swinging on his own.Jayden loved hangin' around. time to go!when we got home Peyton played football with Grandpa. i was impressed at how many times he caught the ball!
it was a great weekend with Aunt Tracy, but it went way too fast. the boys fell IN LOVE with her!Jayden calls her ' Ah KeeKee'. he cracks us up how he comes up with names for everyone. we are all going to miss her so much! come back soon Aunt Tracy!

mommy scissor hands

yesterday after i saw this picture....i came to the reality that Jayden might need his bangs cut. so after i took Peyton to pre-school this morning i trimmed Jayden's bangs. i didnt let myself think about it, i just got the scissors and trimmed. there is something about cutting your baby's hair for the first time, even though it's hard to do, you see the baby face you saw when they were born. so cute! but then today as he was playing outside i looked over and saw this....a messy face AND a baby mullet!.... so when Jason got home from work we sat Jayden on the table outside and came up with a plan.hmmm what are those for?Jason was in charge of pictures and i was in charge of trimming. (again, i did not let myself think about what i was doing. just trim it and get rid of the mullet i thought i saw). Jayden wasn't so sure about our plan.when i thought about cutting Jayden's hair for the first time i had big plans on having him in a chair, in the kitchen, with my camera ready, and taking pictures of every hair that fell.... but i know if i would have set it up that way today i would have bailed on the whole thing. so outside, no thinking, and with a scissor in my hand,
i.cut.my.baby's.hair.... after the whole thing was over (i saved every last hair) both boys celebrated together in their 'clubhouse' with icepops. i still love Jayden's hair.... and that face.... i love that face.

what we do

on the days Peyton goes to pre-school. we wake up early, make pancakes (Peyton's favorite), get ready, and usually have just a little time to play.this morning, for some reason, playtime was in the kitchen right under my feet, and Peyton told knock knock jokes the WHOLE time.he makes them up as he goes....
Peyton: 'knock knock
Me: 'who's there'
Peyton: 'chicken'
Me:'chicken who'
Peyton: 'ummmm....... chicken poo poo head!'
then he cracks up like it's the funniest joke in the world.then he starts a new one. it goes on and on until someone changes the subject.... usually me. but don't get me wrong i LOVE his jokes, or even more than that, i LOVE watching him crack up at himself. he's such a 'boy' now.we drive to pre-school with Peyton usually telling me 'we will play in the gym today because it's too cold to play outside'. he also asks for me to play his favorite song 'the road song' aka 'On the road again' by Willie Nelson. after we listen to Willie'LOUDER PLEASE'.... both boys want to hear Kelly Clarkson's new cd (also one of my new favorites). it is SO FUNNY watching the boys dance and play the drums in their carseats. cracks me up every single time! once we drop Peyton off at school the car is really quiet. Jayden asks where 'gung gung' is a few times on the way home. (Jayden calls Peyton 'gung gung'. we don't know why). once Jayden and i get home he usually sits on the couch with his sheekie while i make breakfast for us. today he had a slight meltdown after we got him dressed. (i'm pretty sure it was because i got my camera out). i wanted to practice my 'manual' skills, (i've been shooting in 'aperture' mode for a few months and got a little worried that i forgot how to shoot in manual). so i took pictures (in manual) of Jayden's melt down. he was SOOOO happy with me!
so we went into the dining room to play peek-a-boo.peep eye!i must be boring. sorry Jay. (but i'm loving i didnt forget 'manual'! i was a little worried.) then i followed him into the kitchen to play his new favorite game.... on.... off.... on.... off..oh so fun for mommy. thinking, thinking....
i can turn the lights on! he was obviously so proud of himself.then he ran around the kitchen (i dont know why).... but me and my camera could not keep up with him. he went to the playroom and found his leap pad....both boys love these things!then he took it into the living room.... our mornings are so interesting, dont ya think?such a smart little boy.ok mama enough with the pictures!
so pretty much our mornings without Peyton are all similar to this. i love watching Jayden entertain himself, but he misses Peyton a lot when he's in pre-school..... we both do. i catch myself watching the clock and looking at Peyton's school schedule a lot when he's gone. it's only 3 hours, but it feels much longer. both Jayden and i are SO HAPPY when school is out and see Peyton walk outside with his friends. every Friday we drive through McDonalds for french fries.... a special bonus to start the weekends.
