spring? is that you?

the weather FINALLY changed.... this weekend it was sunny and warm! we were so excited to not only have great weather, but Aunt Tracy, (Jason's sister) flew in town from Illinois for the weekend. Peyton really wanted to show Aunt Tracy the park so the boys climbed into the wagon and off we went.Jayden climbed out of the wagon when he saw the playground....then Peyton took off after him. they couldnt wait to play!Jayden was SO EXCITED to play on everything! he tried to do everything Peyton did.
he's big enough to slide all by himself now....with the help of his tongue of course!Peyton had a great time on the swings, especially when daddy pushed him 'higher please!'Peyton also did a great job of swinging on his own.Jayden loved hangin' around. time to go!when we got home Peyton played football with Grandpa. i was impressed at how many times he caught the ball!
it was a great weekend with Aunt Tracy, but it went way too fast. the boys fell IN LOVE with her!Jayden calls her ' Ah KeeKee'. he cracks us up how he comes up with names for everyone. we are all going to miss her so much! come back soon Aunt Tracy!

my little valentines....

i have been waiting for the perfect time and day to do the boys Valentine photo shoot. i had planned on taking their pictures inside with my new backdrop stand, but since the weather was so great i started brainstorming for what we could do outside instead. outdoor pictures are my favorite.... and honestly what I feel I am best at, so what i came up with first was the boys on our old bench. (Jason actually asked me to marry him on this bench). i was so scared it might fall apart when we were moving it across the yard. at our other house it sat in front of our koi pond.... now it sits under our big tree. its been through a lot. i hope it hangs on for a few more years, especially now that i see how great it looks in pictures. the boys did a great job today! we warmed up with just the boys standing on the bench.... (the X & O are from Hobby Lobby. i bought (and painted) them for the boy's Valentine pictures last year). Jason was so great, he knew i was getting frustrated with the sun on Peyton's hair, so he went to the garage and next thing i know he's holding an umbrella over the boys for me. he's such a good assistant!then it was time for the bribery (heart shaped lollipops from the $ section at Target). bribery works so well sometimes! this is one of my favorites....
hey Jayden, is that sucker good?
this is my other favorite.... Peyton is SO HAPPY and look at Jayden's tongue!i thought about getting the wagon out at the last minute. I'm so glad i did, i think they turned out cute, although i forgot to straighten this one in lightroom.Hey Sucker!Happy Valentines Day!

mommy scissor hands

yesterday after i saw this picture....i came to the reality that Jayden might need his bangs cut. so after i took Peyton to pre-school this morning i trimmed Jayden's bangs. i didnt let myself think about it, i just got the scissors and trimmed. there is something about cutting your baby's hair for the first time, even though it's hard to do, you see the baby face you saw when they were born. so cute! but then today as he was playing outside i looked over and saw this....a messy face AND a baby mullet!.... so when Jason got home from work we sat Jayden on the table outside and came up with a plan.hmmm what are those for?Jason was in charge of pictures and i was in charge of trimming. (again, i did not let myself think about what i was doing. just trim it and get rid of the mullet i thought i saw). Jayden wasn't so sure about our plan.when i thought about cutting Jayden's hair for the first time i had big plans on having him in a chair, in the kitchen, with my camera ready, and taking pictures of every hair that fell.... but i know if i would have set it up that way today i would have bailed on the whole thing. so outside, no thinking, and with a scissor in my hand,
i.cut.my.baby's.hair.... after the whole thing was over (i saved every last hair) both boys celebrated together in their 'clubhouse' with icepops. i still love Jayden's hair.... and that face.... i love that face.

Christmas Eve, take two!

once we came in and warmed up from playing in the snow this morning the boys were tired and ready for lunch and a nap. while they were napping Jason and i took a few random pictures of the snow. one of our house, our big tree, the back porch.... and our palm tree!i also made some 'tastefully simple' beer bread. mmm good stuff!once Peyton and Jayden woke up a couple hours later they were ready to play in the snow again. Peyton really wanted to play in the backyard this time so out we went.... he dropped right down to make a snow angel for me. then we worked on a snowman, Texas style....small but way cool in swim goggles!CHEESE!
meanwhile we COULD NOT stop Jayden from eating the snow.it's the only thing he did!Peyton made his first snowball.... so proud!watch out!he LOVED throwing them at the fence! can you tell?meanwhile.... Jayden was still looking for snow and ice to eat. chomp, chomp, mmmm good!it was so much fun taking pictures of the boys in the snow.i took a million!
Peyton and Jayden were FINALLY ready to come inside when their hands started freezing off! when they came in to warm up by the fire they found Elfafin had moved and left them a present and a note! the note said 'tonight would be Elfafin's last night at our house, and that he had packed his bag and had his sleeping bag ready to go back to the North Pole with Santa when he came to visit tonight. it also said that he would miss them and couldn't wait to tell Santa what good boys they had been.'Peyton was REALLY sad about Elfafin's last night here and wanted to write Santa a letter asking if he could stay a little longer. i tried to change the subject by getting the boys to open the gifts Elfafin had left for them (matching pajamas & books),but Peyton just couldnt get over the fact that Elfafin would be gone soon. (i felt HORRIBLE for him. UGH!) Jayden, on the other hand, was fine with it. (look how red Jayden's face was from the snow... i felt so bad for him. but he didnt seem to mind).we decided to bake some cookies for Santa, and Peyton decided what he wanted to write on his note to Santa.the boys worked really well together making the cookies. and taking turns, watching the cookies bake.
cookies for Santa, and the beer bread i made earlier today. (it was obviously good!)after a warm bath and dinner, Peyton and I sat down to write Santa's letter. Peyton told me what he wanted to say and i wrote it down for him, then he signed his name.
then it was time to put the reindeer food outside. this was Jayden's first time to feed the reindeer.... and Peyton was excited to show him how. here we go!but of course Jayden had his own way of doing it....then apparently it was time to look for Santa, run in the snow, and make footprints! the boys were so excited for Santa to get here, and we were excited for them!Merry Christmas!
