first off.... i have been trying my best to blog, even though i said i was going to take a break for awhile. basically what i am doing is uploading my pics SOOC (straight out of camera) or editing through flickr, so it doesnt really take much time or effort to do. (usually i edit every picture, but i just dont have the time or energy to do it right now). so bare with me.... i am trying to keep up with this as much as i can!
yesterday i had blood work done on my pancreas and found out the levels went up from where it was last time it was checked. (it was at 94, and from what i understand it is supposed to be around 40). i dont know ANYTHING about the pancreas except it stores energy from food.... and lately i dont have ANY! so my dr called and told us i needed to have a CT scan STAT! so this morning we made the call and went in to get it done. it was similar to an MRI except i didnt have to worry about moving or breathing too much. first i had to drink a solution that tasted like bad fruit punch, then i laid on a table, had an IV put in my arm, and was rolled into a big machine for a few minutes. it went pretty fast. the worst part was the IV. i cant tell you how tired i am of people sticking me with needles! but whatever it takes, i will do it. it was over fast and by the end of the day we got the phone call we had been waiting for. they talked to Jason and told him they had found a cyst on my liver and wanted me to come in for another check-up. they dont seem to concerned about the cyst right now and didnt say anything about my pancreas. i have another dr appointment next week.
today is my Mom's birthday.... we got the phone call on our way to my parent's house to celebrate. the call was short because we had just pulled up in their driveway and i honestly just wanted to spend time with my parents. it was so great to see their faces when we told them i was ok. we still have questions for the doctors, but from what we understand the CT scan shows i am fine. i still have a little pain in my abdomen and shoulder and still feel pretty bad in the morning when i wake up, but i am A LOT better than i was a few weeks ago! its nice to be back to my old routine with the boys. we play outside in the pool and are enjoying the summer. it has been SO GREAT playing with them again, and even seeing them play together. Jayden has been especially close to me lately. he snuggles with me a lot more now and asks me to sit with him all the time. Peyton has been really careful around me, making sure he doesnt hurt me and asks a lot if i am feeling better. Jason continues to do SO MUCH around here and has taken such good care of all of us through this whole thing.
i will keep blogging as much as i can. thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers!

pre-op
today was my pre-op. Grandpa came over to babysit Jayden, and Jason and I took Peyton to pre-school. the hospital is right down the street from Peyton's school. So it worked out well that both of us got to take him to school. I have missed seeing him walk into school the past few weeks.
my pre-op stuff went ok. i mean i guess it went as well as you would expect. which i didn't expect much at all. they took blood, weighed me, and then did an EKG.... which by the way i had NO IDEA i would be getting one. it wasn't a big deal though. what WAS weird was when the nurse (or whoever she is) told me to lift my shirt & bra, and lay on the table. i know i just looked at her like she was crazy. she said it a few more times before i actually did it. she put some sticky circles with wires coming out of them all over me and told me to be VERY STILL (i had a small flashback from the MRI at that point thinking OH CRAP IM GOING TO SCREW THIS UP). but in a few seconds/couple of minutes it was over and i got to put my shirt and bra down. im so exciting.
after the EKG we (Jason was with me the whole time) were sent into another room to talk about the surgery.... before and after, what to expect and had to sign a bunch of papers. i was also given a 'living will' to sign, or to take home to discuss. we decided to bring it home. not for any reason.... i think the whole thing just took us so off guard that we didn't know what to say or do. it's still in the folder we brought home. i guess we will be going over it tonight.
once we left the hospital we went to breakfast, sat outside, and just enjoyed being together. we had not been alone in a long time. so it was REALLY nice to enjoy each others company. we didn't talk about the surgery much at all. which i think was good for both of us. we just wanted to be together, and so we were. breakfast was so good and the weather was perfect.
we had about 45 minutes until we had to get Peyton from school so we walked down main street. we went into a few stores, but didn't buy anything. it was just nice to be out and not think about anything. Peyton was excited to see both of us in the car as we picked him up from school. he had a good day.
when we got home Paw-Paw and Jayden were hanging out. the boys were hungry for lunch and ready for naps.... which, by then, i was too.
Mom came over about 3:00 to take me to get a pedicure. i wanted pretty feet for my surgery.... so at least one part of me would look good. the whole reason for Mom going with me (other than mother/daughter time, which i LOVE!) was for HER to get a pedicure too but she decided not to get one. i have no idea why, she just sat with me while i got mine. we talked a lot. it was really nice to have her there. usually i go by myself, which is kinda blah. Mom and I went to Target after my pedicure but didn't shop very long. i started to feel really sick, and by the time we got home i was ready to lay down and pretty much stayed in bed for the rest of the evening. but at least my feet look good!
PS.... i have gotten so many emails and phone calls telling me similar stories of friends who have gone through the same type of surgery, or how a shot would cure it, or physical therapy may even be the answer, or even how a chiropractor could fix me. whatever stories i heard, i listened, took it in, and prayed a lot. to be honest.... in the beginning, i was just plain scared. i honestly thought i was going to find out i was dying. (and just for the record i am NOT AT ALL dramatic, REALLY im not. usually things roll off my back, yes i get mad, i might scream about it, but eventually i get over things). but this whole thing was different. i knew it.... something was wrong. i mean one day i was fine and the next day i couldn't walk without feeling extreme pain. finally, i just wanted to go to the doctor and hear what he had to say.... meanwhile i hugged my boys A LOT. i looked at their little faces a lot and wondered how they would be without me. (still not being dramatic.... i promise! these are just the things that went through my mind..... which by the way NEVER have before).
so.... when friends, or just random people told me their stories of the 'same surgery' and how i shouldn't worry and everything will be 'fine'.... i PROMISE i listened. i understand that i am not the first one to ever have gone through this. i also get it that i will probably be 'fine' and i will (hopefully) back to my old self before i know it. but.... to me this IS a big deal, and not because it's 'surgery'.... it's a big deal to me because i have not been myself in almost a month. i haven't been able to hold my boys like i used to, hug my husband like i used to, or even take pictures like i used to.... i miss doing REGULAR things. everything is different, i don't like it. i wake up and i am in pain and when i go to bed i am still in pain. i am tired of depending on pain pills to 'get me through the day' or make me feel somewhat normal.
on my nightstand i have a baggie full of crackers, a cup of water (or cranberry juice), and a smaller cup filled with the pain meds i may or may not need at night. i also have a picture/coaster Peyton made me so it can be the first and last thing i see before i go to bed at night. this is my life.... no it isn't like anyone else right now. its mine. its my experience. and as bad as it feels sometimes, im glad its ME going through this and not my boys, my husband, my family, or even my friends. God knows i can handle this. He knows. i wonder if i can, but then at the end of the day i tell myself God knows. it's in His hands. this is my experience. i am going through it, and i will get through it one way or another.
so to those of you who have told me your stories.... thank you for making me feel like this is WAY more simple than it feels. because honestly it feels WAY bigger than i can handle sometimes.
the older i get the more i realize we all go through our own things, big or small, they are OURS. we OWN them. its OUR life and OUR stories/experiences. this is one of mine.... and hopefully just a small one.

me
last Monday morning (April 26th) Jason took me to the ER because i woke him up at 4:00am with a horrible pain in my right arm. it was so bad i couldnt do anything without feeling faint or feeling like i may get sick. the ER went ok.... they gave me a shot and some meds and sent me on my way. after about an hour of being home the pain was back. i took the pain meds and tried to get through it but by morning i was a mess again.
Tuesday (April 27th) Jason called our doctor and made an appointment. by the time we left i could not even sit in the car without being in horrible pain. i couldnt even sit in the waiting room. i had to lay down wherever i could find a place to lay. i also had to walk with my arm straight up in the air. it was the only way i could get some kind of relief from the pain. (and i was on pain pills at the time! i have a pretty high tolerance for pain, so i knew this had to be bad). our doctor (who is great by the way) sent us straight over to have an MRI, and with a few more prescriptions.... pain pills, valium, and steroids.
Wednesday (April 28th) i was sent back to the same MRI office to have another one. (this time in the closed MRI machine.... the one they did yesterday was open and the dr did not seem happy with the results, so the only option we had was to go back and do it again). both of my parents went with me to the second MRI since Jason had to work. once again, i could not sit in a chair.... i laid in the backseat of my Dad's car on the way there and when we got to the dr's office i laid across two chairs in the lobby. (Paw-Paw babysat the boys for us). Thank you Paw-Paw!
Tuesday (May4th) my sister Brook flew in from Colorado to help. she brought her one year old Tatum, and her oldest daughter Liddy. it was REALLY good to see them.... but the first evening Tatum started throwing up all over the house. we had no idea what was going on. it was a mess. we were hoping it would be gone by morning but around midnight Peyton came into our room and was sick as well.... then when i checked Jayden around 1:00am he had thrown up in his crib as well. Jason and I were up all night with both of them in the playroom. we had trash cans ready for them to get sick in and just pretty much watched them as they slept, and every once in awhile when the woke up, they would get sick again.
it was so sad and horrible to see.
meanwhile i was on my pain meds so i was in and out of it as well. in the four years of having children, Jason and i had never dealt with throw up like this before. i mean yes Jayden has gotten carsick, but OH MY GOODNESS throw up from a sick child is something we have NEVER seen before.
Wednesday (May 5th) (Happy Birthday to my little sister Meagan!) i had my appointment with the neurologist today, (the boys seemed ok. they stayed home and took it easy with their Aunt Brook and cousins). after talking with our doctor and going over my MRI scans i will be having surgery on May 19th. i will be in the hospital for one night.... but there is a chance I could come home the same day. it just depends on how things go and how I am feeling after surgery. the surgery itself will be about an hour and a half, but he told Jason to him it will be about 4 hours because of prep time and recovery. im just hoping once i am out, i stay out, and dont remember anything. from what i understand they will be putting a crown on my head (it has thorn like spikes on it) to help to keep my head still. they will roll me over and work on the back of my neck/spine. (between c4 and c6).
Thursday (May 6th) Jason came home from work early today.... sick as could be!
Friday (May 7th) Brook thought it was best for her and the kids to go. she felt horrible for bringing her 'plague' from Colorado and wanted to get home before it got worse for anyone else. I know she was worried about me, because 'she didnt want me to hurt my neck even worse if i had to throw up'. UGH what a mess! so we had to say by to her and the kids.
Saturday (May 8th) apparently it was my turn! i was very sick, i stayed in bed all day and couldnt even take pain pills because i knew they would just make me feel worse, since i couldnt eat anything. i was a mess and my arm hurt horribly. i have lost weight since this whole thing has started. (i usually weigh about 117).... i am down to 112, maybe even 110 by now. i love my sister Brook. she told me she wanted to go on the 'crick your neck diet'. it was fun laughing with her when she was here. even through cleaning the loads of vomit and countless loads of laundry we did, we still laughed about it. thank you Brook!
So here we are TODAY (May 11th) i was fitted for a neck brace this morning .... yes i am going to be SOO pretty after this is all said and done. my parents, family, and Jason's dad have all been so great through all of this. the boys are in good hands. although even when i am home NOT supposed to be doing anything, i still want to be in the middle of it all. i think that is the hardest part for me. i miss my boys, playing with them, and of course taking pictures of them. i miss it like crazy. i did take a minute to take a picture of my wonderful line up of pain medicine, valium, and steroids. basically my breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Jason talked to my doctor again today and apparently i am not supposed to be doing ANYTHING. i thought i was ok to do little things.... like laundry, making lunch, putting the boys down for their naps, and simple things like that, but the doctor told him it is possible i could make things worse. So starting today, i have done NOTHING, and it was so hard not to. Jason took the day off of work and basically had mommy/daddy duty all day and will have it for at least another month. i feel horrible for him. i want to help, but know i cant. i dont want to make it worse. it makes me sad and i cry a lot more than i have in a long while. i take a lot of naps, and when i am not sleeping i am trying hard to keep my eyes open. i will try to update my blog when i can, and of course try to share pictures of the boys.

Jayden,
you have grown so much, in so many ways since the last time i wrote about you. you are talking a lot more and doing new things everyday. it's hard to keep up with it all.... i tell myself to write down every new thing you do, but i usually forget. you and Peyton keep me pretty busy!
a few weeks ago when i told you i loved you, out of the blue i heard you say 'ooh too!'. at the time i wasn't quite sure if you meant 'i love you too' or if you were just making sounds like you usually do. SO, i said 'i love you' again and just like before, you said 'ooh too'. such a great day!
youre such a sweet little boy Jayden, although i still call you my baby.
you think every color is blue and you count by saying ma, ma, ma, ma, and putting your fingers up while you count. you count cars, cups, pretty much anything there is more than one of, you try counting them.
yesterday i swear i heard you singing. it was so great! i am pretty sure you get most of this stuff by watching Peyton. you love to copy him and i am pretty sure you think you are just like him. you are not afraid of anything, which scares me! you love showing off and making everyone laugh.
Paw Paw is still your bff. you ask about him a lot and when he's visiting you are by his side the whole time. during the day you are this big boy who wants to do everything yourself.... even though you have me wrapped around your finger, so half the time i am doing things for you. you know how to 'work' us.... either with saying MAMA or DADA a hundred times over and over, or using your cute little face to sucker us into whatever it is you need.
at night and at naptime you become this little baby again. who i love and will miss dearly. you still use a lolly and still sleep in your crib. i'm not even thinking about a big boy bed yet.... or taking the lolly away for that matter. im not ready, youre not ready, and i'm not worried about it.
you still love your 'ducky'.... who you ask for when youre tired. you also ask for 'bee sheshe' & your little 'sheshes'too. it is SO CUTE to see you walking around the house with all of them in your hands. you can barely see over them! youre growing up so fast little Jayden, and sometimes I still cant believe your mine.
thank you for being my baby little Jay. i love you more than the world.

Elfafin strikes again!
when Peyton got up from his nap today he found Elfafin on the mantle with a note, and he left the boys a surprise in their stockings.
the note said there was a Christmas celebration this afternoon and since they were being good boys, he wanted them to go. he also mentioned how he wanted the boys to wear their special surprise to help keep them warm. both boys got a new pair of Christmas long johns. they wore them under their clothes today.
me and my boys!
we bundled up, picked up Sara on the way, and went to Celebrate Colleyville. they had two snow mountains. Peyton and Jayden had so much fun on them.
i LOVE how the men helping the kids were having such a great time!
one time Peyton's tube was so big that he could barely see over the top. he LOVED it!
i think Jayden liked it as well, although he only went down once.
they also had a lot of jump houses and slides.
wheeee!
Sara went down almost every one of them with Peyton. she is such a great helper!
we invited Katie to come as well, but she had to do something for school this afternoon.
Jason climbed up this big slide with Jayden in his arms, so all three of them could go down together. it was so funny! that's Jason's head behind Jayden.
here we go!!!!
Peyton loved this game.... it was shooting fish into a hole with your foot. he sets up the fish....
then it FLIES through the hole.... or not, but it was fun trying!
Jayden had a good time just running around and letting Daddy chase him.
it got SO COLD! Jayden's hands were turning pink.
we only stayed about an hour. the boys were freezing and ready for hot chocolate when we got home.

time to party
a few weeks ago i asked Jason if we should have a party for me since i was turning the big FOUR ZERO this year. what i didn't know is he had already started planning for it, he had already bought invitations and decorations. so since the secret was out, we planned my 40th birthday party together. it turned out to be such a fun day. the day of the party we spent the morning cleaning and putting the decorations up. we used some of the luau decor from Jayden's first birthday party last year.
Jason also went out and bought some black balloons and a cake. the house looked great and i was ready to get it started, and needless to say, so were the boys.
it was really nice to visit with everyone. it was VERY hot outside so we stayed in for awhile. we had snacks and drinks set out and it went really well.
the party finally moved outside and everyone went swimming.
Jason bought a funny cutout board for everyone to put their heads through for pictures. this is Amy & Katie. im so glad they came!
it still cracks me up. even the kids loved it!
i was so glad Anne Marie and her family came. it was so great to finally meet Ashton, (her baby) and to see Anne & David again. Jason took a picture of all of us but Anne and i decided we hated it, so i am not posting it. i don't really like this picture of me either but Lisa does. it was great to see her! (i don't think i will be wearing this shirt again). yuck!
Lisa and i saw eachother yesterday but it was a tough day for everyone. it was so nice to see her again today. my parents came over and so did my sister and all of her kids. my friends Amy and Katie came as well! i had a really great party! i am so glad we decided to have one.
the next morning me, Jason, and the boys went swimming again.
the decorations were still out and Peyton still couldn't get enough of the cutout picture board.
we spent the rest of the day by the pool, just relaxing. it was a long week and i am SO glad it's over. 40 and all.

my 40th birthday
i can't believe i am the big four zero. yuck! but i had a great birthday. we hung out & played,
swam a lot,
watered the hot tub,
and i got my new zoom lens! i LOVE it! then later tonight Jason went to Lava Grill (my favorite!) and brought home sushi for dinner.
turning 40 wasn't really that bad. i think the anticipation of it coming is worse than the actual day. i'm glad it's over, but i had a great day with the boys. they were so excited to help me blow out my (40) candle.
the boys had just taken a bath. thats why they are only in a diaper and underwear. plus it's only about a million degrees outside.
i CAN NOT stand pictures of me blowing out candles. i only added these because Peyton looks so cute!
look at his eyes!
my birthday party is this Saturday. i am looking forward to seeing all of my friends and relaxing. tomorrow is my friend Amy's memorial service. i am going with a couple of friends from high school.
Happy Birthday Mommy!
