turning 5....

Peyton when you were a newborn, (and not sleeping very well) i remember holding you and saying to Bunny 'i can't wait until he's five.' Bunny quickly came back with 'DONT SAY THAT, it goes so fast Mandy, you will see!' well here we are, youre turning 5 this weekend, and i now understand what my mom was saying. it goes way too fast. Peyton, we have watched you grow into such a handsome young boy in the past 5 years. youre a loving brother and you care so much about everyone you meet. we love you more every day and we are so proud of you....thank you for the happiness you bring to our family every day, and for teaching us to look at life around us. and thank you asking me to sing to you every night, after 5 years i thought you would be tired of it. I'm so glad your not. happy (almost) 5th birthday big boy! i love you and cherish every minute i have with you.... i always have.
love,
Mommy

turning 3!

Jayden did such a great job taking his 3 year pictures! I cant believe he will be three soon. it goes so fast.... but it's so much fun! when he was over it, he said 'i done', got up, and walked away.
i love all of the shots we took! it is going to be hard to choose just two for his invitation this year!

Jayden,

you have grown so much, in so many ways since the last time i wrote about you. you are talking a lot more and doing new things everyday. it's hard to keep up with it all.... i tell myself to write down every new thing you do, but i usually forget. you and Peyton keep me pretty busy! a few weeks ago when i told you i loved you, out of the blue i heard you say 'ooh too!'. at the time i wasn't quite sure if you meant 'i love you too' or if you were just making sounds like you usually do. SO, i said 'i love you' again and just like before, you said 'ooh too'. such a great day!youre such a sweet little boy Jayden, although i still call you my baby.you think every color is blue and you count by saying ma, ma, ma, ma, and putting your fingers up while you count. you count cars, cups, pretty much anything there is more than one of, you try counting them. yesterday i swear i heard you singing. it was so great! i am pretty sure you get most of this stuff by watching Peyton. you love to copy him and i am pretty sure you think you are just like him. you are not afraid of anything, which scares me! you love showing off and making everyone laugh. Paw Paw is still your bff. you ask about him a lot and when he's visiting you are by his side the whole time. during the day you are this big boy who wants to do everything yourself.... even though you have me wrapped around your finger, so half the time i am doing things for you. you know how to 'work' us.... either with saying MAMA or DADA a hundred times over and over, or using your cute little face to sucker us into whatever it is you need. at night and at naptime you become this little baby again. who i love and will miss dearly. you still use a lolly and still sleep in your crib. i'm not even thinking about a big boy bed yet.... or taking the lolly away for that matter. im not ready, youre not ready, and i'm not worried about it. you still love your 'ducky'.... who you ask for when youre tired. you also ask for 'bee sheshe' & your little 'sheshes'too. it is SO CUTE to see you walking around the house with all of them in your hands. you can barely see over them! youre growing up so fast little Jayden, and sometimes I still cant believe your mine.thank you for being my baby little Jay. i love you more than the world.

project 1 (jeans, a tank, and my boys)

my friend Anne Marie and i talk almost every night.... usually about photography. both of us have a slight obsession, ok a HUGE obsession for it. (she's REALLY good!) last night she mentioned how we should give ourselves projects. kind of like the 'bench monday' project i do every week on flickr and on my 365 blog. which is basically taking a picture of someone standing on a bench, or something like it, every monday. so last night as we were talking, Anne mentioned a project called Day In The Life (DITL). basically you take pictures throughout your day. 7:30>wake up>take a picture, 8:30>make breakfast>take a picture.... and so on. its going to be a big project but i am going to try it as soon as i get my NEW LENS! (WOO HOO! i will blog about that later i am sure). soooo this morning i woke up thinking i wanted to do one small project. recently i had seen a picture on flickr that i LOVE by my favorite photographer, Jude. the photo is of a woman wearing only jeans and holding her naked 1 year old baby. you could only see her waist, her jeans, and her baby's little bare bottom in her mommy's hand. Ok so, Jayden is 2 and that baby had just turned 1..... i knew i couldn't do that picture exactly but i LOVE the idea. so this is what i came up with for my 'project' today.

jeans, a tank, and my boys
this is the same picture processed in photoshop with an action called chocolate.slightly different picture.... boys are squeezing me now. i had suckers. bribery is a beautiful thing!

my little valentines....

i have been waiting for the perfect time and day to do the boys Valentine photo shoot. i had planned on taking their pictures inside with my new backdrop stand, but since the weather was so great i started brainstorming for what we could do outside instead. outdoor pictures are my favorite.... and honestly what I feel I am best at, so what i came up with first was the boys on our old bench. (Jason actually asked me to marry him on this bench). i was so scared it might fall apart when we were moving it across the yard. at our other house it sat in front of our koi pond.... now it sits under our big tree. its been through a lot. i hope it hangs on for a few more years, especially now that i see how great it looks in pictures. the boys did a great job today! we warmed up with just the boys standing on the bench.... (the X & O are from Hobby Lobby. i bought (and painted) them for the boy's Valentine pictures last year). Jason was so great, he knew i was getting frustrated with the sun on Peyton's hair, so he went to the garage and next thing i know he's holding an umbrella over the boys for me. he's such a good assistant!then it was time for the bribery (heart shaped lollipops from the $ section at Target). bribery works so well sometimes! this is one of my favorites....
hey Jayden, is that sucker good?
this is my other favorite.... Peyton is SO HAPPY and look at Jayden's tongue!i thought about getting the wagon out at the last minute. I'm so glad i did, i think they turned out cute, although i forgot to straighten this one in lightroom.Hey Sucker!Happy Valentines Day!
