a hairy situation

a few weeks ago Jason decided to cut his own hair in the backyard. which isn't a big deal because he has done it before. so he got out the mirror and clippers and went away on chopping his hair off. Peyton sat and watched him then started looking at all of the hair on the ground. he didn't have any questions, which surprised me, but apparently he had a plan.i of course had my camera in my hand so i took pictures of him. at first i just thought it was cute that i could see his crack. (i love baby crack. yes i know he's not a baby anymore, but he's MY baby. so his crack is still cute to me). so snappity, snap i took pictures of him. then realized what exactly he was doing. he was putting Jason's hair that fell on the ground onto his legs.
i asked him what he was doing and he told me 'i want to be like daddy'. and just kept rubbing the hair onto his legs until they were covered.then he put some on his eyebrows.... and then i noticed he rubbed some on his chest as well. i was trying not to laugh (or be grossed out) because it was REALLY important to him to have hair 'like daddy's'.
it was so important that he refused to get into the pool for awhile because he knew all of the hair would come off and said 'i want to be like daddy and i have hair all over like him now.' so finally Jason took it into his own hands and threw Peyton into the pool.Peyton wasn't mad, but made Jason throw him in a couple more times.

i am so NOT ready for this boy to have 'hair all over'!

Happy 2nd Birthday Jayden!

it seems like just yesterday i was waiting for you to arrive, and now here we are on your 2nd birthday! in the past two years you have become such a sweet little boy with a huge personality. always babbling and making us laugh with everything you do. it's amazing how much you've grown in just two years. you've become our little sunshine every morning with your crazy blonde hair and today was extra special....you were so excited to see the balloons and Happy Birthday sign this morning. (i had no idea my speedlight was running low on batteries, but i loved your expressions so i HAD to add these pictures).the 'it's my birthday' dance!!!!you obviously woke up this morning happy as ever, just like every day.... and ready to open some presents!we let you open one gift before Daddy left for work.you opened a new pair of swim goggles. your favorite! you really can't seem to own enough of them. we went swimming while daddy was at work. you and Peyton had so much fun in the pool. (as usual). silly birthday boy!then we had lunch, and naps. after naptime Daddy came home and it was time for MORE PRESENTS! you and Peyton were so excited! Peyton even got a couple of gifts as well. it makes for a happier day for everyone.
i obviously couldn't get enough of your happy face today.then finally.... you got a little bored. but you did SO WELL with waiting.... come on mama! then you started to go for it,which honestly.... i don't blame you!
then the real fun started!you opened a buzz lightyear backpack!then opened a pair of Buzz Lightyear swimshorts and two Buzz Lightyear shirts! (do you see a theme starting here?)then you were ready for your big present.... (hmm wonder what it could be!)
your very own Buzz Lightyear! Peyton opened a new pair of swim shorts as well, and had to put them on right away. he was also VERY excited about your new Buzz!you were so excited to show Grandpa your new Buzz, and your new sunglasses (which also have buzz on them. duh.)
your two new favorite things!i'm so proud of you Jayden!
it was finally time to get your new swim shorts on and swim. you had fun playing in the pool and watering the flowers. daddy bought a new hose for you for your birthday. it might be your MOST favorite thing. you LOVE watering.... even things that don't need water, like wheels from a truck,or even yourself.... (thank goodness watering babies doesn't make them grow).then.... it was time for birthday cupcakes.your party is this weekend, so we will do a cake then. (Buzz Lightyear.... shocker.) and yup, once again both of you only ate the icing.and thought it was great to show me your icing tongues....ahhh boys.then MORE PRESENTS! these were from Aunt Tracy and Uncle Scott.both of you got some great clothes and a couple of movies! (thank you Aunt Tracy & Uncle Scott!)
today was such a fun day....thank you for a great 1st year little Jay!Happy 2nd Birthday! we love you!

4th of July!

we started the day with putting out some decorations. i LOVE decorating for holidays and birthdays!
we set up the boy's snack table and told them they were getting a surprise. they were so excited! Jason bought them cupcakes.
they LOVED them!both of them used their crabs as a spoon to scoop the icing off the top.and then ate ONLY the icing. leaving two tiny chocolate cakes behind. which Sammie (our dog) ended up sneaking off the table. i was worried she'd get sick, but thank goodness she didn't.Jayden had (only icing) seconds. Grandpa came over this afternoon and helped Jason with making ribs on the grill. Jayden LOVES when G-pa comes over!Peyton decided to 'dress like daddy', so he put his work boots on.he even tied them himself. he worked so hard on it! such a great job!ready for work 'just like daddy!'we let the boys eat dinner outside and then enjoyed our ribs while the boys were watching a movie. (i've been taking them to the library once a week to check out Disney movies. such a fun treat for them in the summer to have new movies to watch).

i put Jayden down for bed at his normal time tonight. he is too little to stay up for the fireworks. we still hadn't even let Peyton stay up for them yet, so tonight was going to be his first time to see them.
i was really excited for him! so after Jayden was asleep. Jason, Peyton, and i went outside for more swimming and to wait for the sun to go down for the fireworks to start. (we can see them from our backyard). he had such a great time swimming, and kept asking 'the fireworks start now?'
he had so much fun swimming at night. we lit the tiki torches for him. he loved it.i bought a couple packs of glow sticks at the dollar store, since i knew Peyton would be up after dark. these things are totally worth a dollar!five of them come in a pack and you can make a necklace or bracelet with the attachments it comes with. Peyton loved them! we made a ring out of all of them and threw them in the pool for Peyton to swim through. he had SO much fun! i plan on buying more for our trip to Disney. they would be so great at the parks at night. and WAY cheaper than the glow sticks they sell. Peyton had so much fun in the pool. we turned the pool lights and bubbles on for him. he was so excited!
FINALLY it was time for the fireworks to start. (i was SO ready! it was almost 10:00pm before they started.)we loved watching Peyton's face when he saw them! (we sprayed him with bug spray like crazy but the mosquitos still found him). he had never seen fireworks before tonight. it was SOO great to watch him, watch them.so impressed!he wanted to be closer to them so Jason put him on his shoulders.
and then he wanted to be EVEN CLOSER so we took him out our back gate to see them. he was impressed all over again. Jason put him on his shoulders....and then Peyton stood on his shoulders. he wanted to be SO CLOSE to the fireworks. it was so funny.the fireworks were great! SO worth waiting up for!hope you had a Happy 4th of July!
