i LOVE decorating for holidays and birthdays!
we set up the boy's snack table and told them they were getting a surprise. they were so excited!
Jason bought them cupcakes.
they LOVED them!
both of them used their crabs as a spoon to scoop the icing off the top.
and then ate ONLY the icing. leaving two tiny chocolate cakes behind. which Sammie (our dog) ended up sneaking off the table. i was worried she'd get sick, but thank goodness she didn't.
Jayden had (only icing) seconds.
Grandpa came over this afternoon and helped Jason with making ribs on the grill. Jayden LOVES when G-pa comes over!
Peyton decided to 'dress like daddy', so he put his work boots on.
he even tied them himself. he worked so hard on it! such a great job!
ready for work 'just like daddy!'
we let the boys eat dinner outside and then enjoyed our ribs while the boys were watching a movie. (i've been taking them to the library once a week to check out Disney movies. such a fun treat for them in the summer to have new movies to watch).i put Jayden down for bed at his normal time tonight. he is too little to stay up for the fireworks. we still hadn't even let Peyton stay up for them yet, so tonight was going to be his first time to see them.
i was really excited for him!
so after Jayden was asleep. Jason, Peyton, and i went outside for more swimming and to wait for the sun to go down for the fireworks to start. (we can see them from our backyard).
he had such a great time swimming, and kept asking 'the fireworks start now?'
he had so much fun swimming at night. we lit the tiki torches for him. he loved it.
i bought a couple packs of glow sticks at the dollar store, since i knew Peyton would be up after dark. these things are totally worth a dollar!
five of them come in a pack and you can make a necklace or bracelet with the attachments it comes with. Peyton loved them!
we made a ring out of all of them and threw them in the pool for Peyton to swim through. he had SO much fun! i plan on buying more for our trip to Disney. they would be so great at the parks at night. and WAY cheaper than the glow sticks they sell. Peyton had so much fun in the pool. we turned the pool lights and bubbles on for him. he was so excited!
FINALLY it was time for the fireworks to start. (i was SO ready! it was almost 10:00pm before they started.)
we loved watching Peyton's face when he saw them! (we sprayed him with bug spray like crazy but the mosquitos still found him).
he had never seen fireworks before tonight. it was SOO great to watch him, watch them.
so impressed!
he wanted to be closer to them so Jason put him on his shoulders.
and then he wanted to be EVEN CLOSER so we took him out our back gate to see them. he was impressed all over again. Jason put him on his shoulders....
and then Peyton stood on his shoulders. he wanted to be SO CLOSE to the fireworks. it was so funny.
the fireworks were great! SO worth waiting up for!
hope you had a Happy 4th of July!
