the fw zoo

we woke up this morning to rain and lots of it, but by mid morning it was clearing out but still cloudy. the weather had cooled down a lot so since Jason couldn't work he suggested we take the boys to the zoo. i was thrilled! i had been wanting to take them all summer but it has been way too hot, and i am not good at being hot without a pool near by to cool off. so we packed the diaper bag, got snacks ready, got everyone dressed and headed out the door.
fw zoo here we come!

i got this nice shot of the fort worth skyline from our car.
once we got the the zoo we were happy to see the parking lot was pretty empty. yesterday was half price day so we were hoping we came on a day when it wasn't crowded.

first we stopped to see the flamingos.Peyton insisted on holding his ticket while we walked around.then my very favorite. CATS! and REALLY big ones. i was so excited to see this lion looking right at me. through my zoom lens i could see he was staring right at me. kind of scared me a little. but love the photos i got of him. he's so beautiful! made me miss my Sasha.all of them LOVED the weather. they looked so comfy while they napped.look at that face! i could not get over their feet! they are so big and beautiful!
needless to say i am a little obsessed with cats of all sizes. Jayden even loved looking at them. maybe we have another cat lover in the family!tigers!and of course the white one. love her!
then we found the elephants.they were playing with barrels and balls. it was so cute.
next we went down to the bird sanctuary. it was so much fun for the boys.we bought a couple of birdseed sticks for the boys. the birds flew right over to them and sat on the sticks and ate. it was so fun! i loved the blue birds.although all of them were really pretty.

Jayden LOVED feeding them! all of them were so pretty! then of course ZEBRAS!.... or just zebra butt. and giraffes....and koi fish!then finally it was time for snacks and juice. (we took our Graco stroller from when Peyton was a baby. it's a mess now, but i still love it. it has a huge basket for the diaperbag, cameras and whatever else we want to put in it. plus the the tray in front with the cup holder is awesome).after snacks we let Jayden run with Peyton through the zoo. they had so much fun together.all of the animals and running wore Jayden out. he passed out as soon as we got into the car.it was a great day at the zoo.
