2 boys, 5 shots, & first day

a few months ago i scheduled the boys well check appointments for the same day. i knew at the time it would be a big morning for all of us but it just made more sense for me to get them both done on the same day. well today was the day, and i knew both of them were getting shots. so of course i acted as if everything was fine. it also helped that i acted like it was exciting to go to the doctor, just so the boys would be excited too.... and it worked. they were happy to walk in the office and see everyone waiting. both of them played with the neat toys they have there and we even read some books. this is the first time i let Jayden out of the stroller to walk around the waiting area. he was so cute, he sat on all the tiny chairs and even got into the movie they were playing on the flatscreen. he's getting so big.

finally it was our turn. we had two nurses, one taking Peyton's measurements and one doing the same for Jay. (so far so good!) then we went back to our little room and waited for the pediatrician. it all went very well and faster than i expected.

finally it was time for shots. the boys had no idea they were coming until we sat them on the table. Peyton went first and it was horrible. he cried so much, i came close to crying too. he got 4 shots! (2 in each leg). i felt so bad for him. then it was Jayden's turn. he only got one shot and cried for a second. the one shot went WAY faster than the 4 Peyton got today. it felt like forever before Peyton's was over.

Peyton's 4 year well check stats:
weight: 39lbs (75-90%)
height: 41 3/4 inches (75-90%)
shots: DTap, IPV, MMR, Varicella (chickenpox)

Jayden's 2 year well check stats:
weight: 32 1/2 lbs (90%)
height: 35 inches (50-75%)
head circumference: 51 cm
shot: Hib #4

when we were done the nurse gave both of them an icepop. i was so glad we were done and out the door. (we got there at 9:00am and didn't leave until 11:00am). since the boys did so well, and were probably starving we went through the McDonalds drive through for some fries. i had also packed some juice (with water) in the diaper bag before we left this morning. it was a happy ride home, although i could tell both of them were tired.we played just a little outside when we got home, and Jason came home for lunch. once we read a book and got ready for naps, Jayden had fallen asleep on the floor. it was the cutest thing. he was snuggled with his blankets and passed out. i carried him to bed, then put Peyton to bed as well.Peyton's nap was only about 45 minutes because today was the first day of speech. he was excited to go, and it went very well. he has a friend in class with him this year. i am so glad we made it through the day easily. i was a little worried, but knew the boys would do great. our schedule is officially different now that speech has started. so far, so good.... but i know there will be days i am going to miss the old schedule.

good job today Peyton & Jayden!
i'm proud of you!
