Jayden has not been himself in the past week or so. he has been waking early and not really taking his full nap in the afternoons, although he would lay in his crib and rest and soothe himself trying to get back to sleep. he has also been getting car sick A LOT.... almost every time i have put him in the car in the past two weeks he cant make it more than 10 minutes without getting sick. i took him to CareNow (which i love because of their web check-in) about a week ago. he was diagnosed with an ear infection in his left ear and we were sent home with a prescription for Amoxicillin. i thought within a few days he would start to feel better, but he just got worse.... coughing, runny nose, diarrhea, and a really bad diaper rash. so yesterday Jason made an appointment with our pediatrician, and after he got off of work, all of us drove to the peds office together. i sat in the backseat with the boys, holding a bowl under Jayden's chin the whole time. thankfully he did not get sick on the way there, which was a huge surprise to me because our pediatricians office is about 20 minutes away from our house. (i DID pack an extra pair of clothes in the diaper bag, just in case!) we were the last appointment of the day and surprisingly we didnt have to sit in the waiting room very long. Jayden did everything the nurse asked him to.... he stood on the scale, let her take his temp, check his heart rate and do whatever else she needed to do. i wasn't sure how he was going to handle all of the attention, but he did really well. i was so proud of him. once the pediatrician came in, she checked his ears (DOUBLE ear infection!) telling us they were not only swollen but pussy as well. (i feel horrible because i didn't know!) and then checked his breathing (apparently he was wheezing). she told us she wanted to put Jayden on a nebulizer to see if his wheezing would stop....

and it did. they ended up sending us home with one. Jayden will do breathing treatments every four hours for two days and then twice a day for as long as we think he needs it. they want to see him in a week to check on him again. he is also on a new prescription for his ear infectionS. (YES TWO! I didn't know!). on our drive home Jayden did good until we were about 5 minutes from home. he got sick
three times in his bowl. he's such a good boy and feel HORRIBLE that
i didn't know how sick he was. i put him in the shower when we got home, cleaned him up, and then he just wanted to sit on the couch with his 'sheekie' and 'lolly'. we could only get him to eat dry cheerios. he did not want his dinner which was fine with me, as long as he was eating SOMETHING, i didn't care. we finally gave him his first breathing treatment at home. Peyton was SO GOOD. he put the extra mask on to help Jayden feel more comfortable, and felt his head for us to tell us if 'Jay has a fevah'.

and then Jayden passed out....

it breaks my heart that he was SO sick and i didn't know.

he slept good all night (thank goodness), although i did not. i was up a lot checking on him, making sure he was breathing. and when i wasn't
IN his room with him, i was watching the monitor in our room hoping he was ok.

i love you little Jay. i am so sorry mommy didn't know how sick you were.

poor little guy looks awful in the first set :(
your taking such good care of your little man...don't be so hard on yourself...i had no idea that ella's right ear was chock full of ear wax...i thought she was just tugging on it for a week and half because she was tired...who would have thought!
i hope he is feeling better now that the antibiotics have had a chance to kick in :)
feel better little guy!
UGH! okay this is bringing back bad memories for me when my Jacob was little and always sick. I'm sure you remember too - you were there for the tail end of it - but he had back to back ear infections for the first four years of his life. He got to the point where his body was resistant to the antibiotics and they just didn't work on him anymore UGH! But...my jay was in daycare, at a babysitter's house, until he was able to stay home with YOU thank goodness. During all of that, I was a WRECK. Never sleeping - always holding my breath trying to make sure he was taking a breath! Most nights - out of sheer exhaustion, I would sleep sitting propped up with him on my chest. ohhh it was so hard to go thru that. To see him like that - so Mandy I totally know what you are going thru. You just have to get thru it. Someday this will be behind you. In the meantime, do whatever works! Steam machines, prop his mattress, don't drive him anywhere - basically just tell yourself that "normal life" is out the window right now. And that's okay. Because that is what's best for Jay. Squeeze him for me. When I see his little face I see YOU. He looks SO much like you when you were little - and I know I have told you that a million times but it's true!!! I love you Mandy. Hang in there. This is the toughest job in the world, ain't it?!?!
Poor baby! It is not your fault. There is no way for us to know when they're sick or even how sick. I hope he gets better soon!
awww what a sweet little guy - poor thing!!
