the past few weeks i have been telling myself to write down all of the funny and clever things both of you do. it seems like both of you have gone from being just playmates to being best friends within just a few months.
when you are together everything is right with the world, you can play for hours with toys or even just a fishing pole made of a stick and a jump rope.
or sometimes it's worms found under a tree stump after it rains. whatever it is.... both of you love exploring and playing together.
Peyton i dont know how you do it but when Jayden is babbling you answer him like you know exactly what he is saying and what he wants.
you miss Jayden when he's napping, and you feel bad for him when he's in trouble.... and Jayden does the same for you. he will even stand in the corner with you until your time out is over.
i have even seen him give you a toy while youre in the corner just so you wont get bored.
there have been a few times where i have gotten onto Jayden for hurting or pushing you.... but once you realize he is in trouble you say 'it's ok mommy, i ok!' you love sticking up for Jayden and cant stand it when he is in trouble.
while i was growing up i always wanted boys, i dont know why, i just knew in my heart that is what i wanted. i know i had no control over it.... maybe it was luck, or maybe somehow i knew you were going to be in my life one day. whatever it is, i am so glad both of you are mine and daddys'.
Peyton youre getting so big and smarter every minute. you love school & speech, and get sad on the weekends when they are closed.
your teachers love you and have told me how sweet and funny you are. just yesterday you told us there was a boy in your class who was sad about not having any friends. you told us: 'i sat next to him on the bench and told him i would be his friend'. as Daddy and i listened we realized it was the same boy who had been picking on you a few weeks ago. you have no idea what a sweet boy you are Peyton. not a lot of people do the sweet things you do.
your speech teacher told us that apparently when you pass people in the hall you say 'hey big guy' or 'those kids are my friends' when you haven't even met them. part of me loves that you think everyone is your friend, but it also makes me nervous. i have tried explaining 'strangers' to you, but apparently it's hard to understand when youre four.... because when youre four, the world is nice, everyone is your friend, and everyday is an adventure.
i wish you could stay four forever and sometimes i even wish i could go back in time, just for a few minutes and hold you again as a newborn. there was a day where you looked at me and said 'mommy i'm not going to grow anymore because i know you don't want me to'. i guess i have said it aloud more than a few times how i want both of you to stay small.
Peyton thank you for loving Jayden as much as we do and thank you for being a great big brother, best friend, and great little boy.
Jayden,
i dont know where to begin with how much you have changed and grown since youve turned 2. all of a sudden you are saying words and even asking questions. your favorite question right now is 'where's paw-paw'. it is one of the first things you ask in the morning and the last thing you say as i lay you in your crib at night.
you named Paw-Paw yourself a few months ago. it came out of nowhere and cracked me up the first time i heard you say it. which now that i think about it, it really shouldnt have been that surprising to me. you and your Paw-Paw are really close.... sometimes i even think you have part of your Grandma (Daddy's mom) in you. you always want to be with Paw-Paw and if he's not here, then your asking about him.
you have always had your own way of doing things.
even when you were a baby you did things your way. you came into this world that way, kind of in charge of what was going on.... and now at 2 years old you still do.
you love Peyton like crazy and try to do EVERYTHING he does.
the other day i saw Peyton trying to scratch his back with a play cell phone.... next thing i know i see YOU trying the same thing. which was really funny because your little arms just couldn't quite reach your back. youre starting to understand rules better now. youre still working on things like taking your sippy cup into the kitchen when youre done or finishing all of your dinner.
i love the way you say 'juuuz peez' after you eat. (we give give you milk.... but right now anything you drink seems to be juice to you). you say 'cheeez' for mac & cheese, which by the way is still both your and Peyton's favorite. when you get mad at me you say 'maaamaa' in a funny low voice. i love it, so when i know youre not happy with me i secretly hope you say it.
you say 'ew yuck' when things are gross, and whenever you want anything all we hear is 'PEEZ PEEZ'. it's the cutest thing ever! the other day as i lay you down to sleep in your crib i swear i heard you say 'youre a good mama'. you can imagine how happy i was! you can jump off the floor with both feet now. you usually do it when your REALLY happy or excited. the first day i saw you do it i was so impressed!
you do so many things and youre getting so big. youre even starting to thin out and the roles on your legs are getting smaller and smaller. youre starting to look more like a little boy than a baby.
i havent cut your hair yet, which is getting to the point of crazy!
i know the day is coming.... people are starting to tell me how cute my 'little girl' is. youre hair is beautiful though. it's the prettiest blonde i have ever seen and so soft.... i am not ready for your first haircut, but i know it's (almost) time.
i love you little Jayden. thank you for being my little sunshine, my entertainment, and the extra bonus in my life.
I love you both so much!
mommy/mama
